touch response part two

"According to the pattern theory, nerve impulses combine to telegraph those Morse-code-like messages of pain. Some pains just rush to the spinal cord, so that we can flinch if we touch a hot stove; and we call this a reflex, by which we mean that, as we always suspected, we can act without thinking and we frequently do." Diane Ackerman, A Natural History of the Senses, page 107.

My inspiration for this piece was Morse code and specifically pain as a whole entity rather than the types of pain. I wanted to convey that no type of pain can outweigh the other, bringing in a tarot card to portray emotional pain (the 3 of Swords) and my hand to represent physical pain.
